Anybody use an iPod as their soundsource?
« on: July 09, 2012, 12:43:24 pm »

So there's this thing called an iRig - a MIDI to iPod connector.  About $70.

Software (SampleTank iPod) for it is free for the demo, and $20 for the full, and something like $40 for every sample in their sound library.

From what I can tell, you cannot swap out individual sounds to customize kits, but if you buy all the drum packs, you have something like 80 preset kits from your iPod.

Anyone have any experience with this?

I just bought SanpleTank for my iPhone and am going to Guitar Center in the morning to grab the MIDI interface by IK Multimedia which supports CoreMIDI for iOS. I will post a short review of the experience tomorrow.

Thanks for the heads up. I am have been looking for a portable solution like this for a long time. This will get me back into the Zendrum.
