Ketron SD2

Just found this on the Alternate Mode site. It's probably more of a General MIDI Module but any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I did not know anything about this module, but I did check it out on Alternate Mode's web site.  The orchestral sounds are very good although there aren't enough drum parts demo'd to really get an idea of its percussion range.  More demos can be found at:  http://www.ketronus.com/demos.html.  Check out SD2 Demo #2, second half of Demo 5.

According to the brochure there are 1000 percussion sounds available including electronic drums (acoustic drums are in loops downloable from Ketron's website).   At $380, it's certainly priced right and it extremely portable.  It has MIDI In and Stereo Out, so one could probably plug a ZD straight in and play.   Brochure is here:  http://www.ketronus.com/pdf/SD2.pdf.  The manual is also downloadable:  http://www.ketronus.com/Manuals/SD2.pdf

If this device produced credible drum/percussion sounds (e.g. TD-20) and had a MIX-In port, imagine taking it along with the ZD (I own LT version), an iPod, and a pair of headphones.   How portable!  It would be great for travel situations and enable practic away from home (e.g. work, airports, hotels, etc.)  Wow!
