New Mac Mini

Looks great.

NO WALL WART!!!!!!!!!

How about

3U Rack Road Case
1TB Hard-drive
USB MIDI/Audio Interface
DFH Superior or BFD

What a great value setup that would be compared to what you pay for a Roland TD20.

MM,

That is so awesome!  I'd add a 9" touchscreen for monitor & control.  That would be a smokin' (and extremely portable) rig!  I wish they made a rack mount set for these (maybe someone does, or will.)

NO WALL WART!!!!!!!!!

Well, no.  But be aware that there IS a power brick.  The minis do not have internal transformers -- same basic guts as a netbook.

Ahem, all change on the latest one.

OK, question for you guys who know more than I:

As I understand it, the purpose of having an external hard drive is mainly to keep system operations and engine on a different bus than the data stream, right?

The Mac Mini can be configured with dual 500Gb hard drives.  Would that negate the need for an ext drive?  I would imagine that it would require some pretty specific control over where data is stored... sometimes dual drives are seen by the OS as a single volume.  But on the other hand, Mac stuff is generally pretty flexible.

If so...  ;D

Hmm, interesting.    I'd be a bit concerned about the quality of the power it's delivering having an internal transformer, not to mention the heat generated by using such a small one, but that certainly is an engineering feat.
