OK, the specs:
-1-pc. quilted maple (109 says the quilt is CRAZY in person!)
-Dark Purple Fade finish, inspired by Imperial Burst from Mapex
-30 trigs with custom layout (all triggers small)
-trig pedal, sus pedal, and 2 CC inputs
I plan to use this one in a strictly melodic setting. My ZX will be my drums/percussion axe (strap) and this guy will be on a stand (no straplocks installed). I am in the process of designing the scale layout for this trigger map, and have come up with 2 really usable maps: one 4.25 octave diatonic, and the other 2.5 octave chromatic. I may end up using both, but that may prove to be pretty confusing. I'll let you guys know, and may be able to post videos as the suck factor diminishes with practice (as I hope it will
)

Roadster,
I will definitely be sending in some reports as I work out my melodic approach. I don't want to send in my setup yet... I need to actually TRY it on the instrument when I get it first!

Avast Thar Zendrumdude,
Aye realize that land locked Montana has much in the way of space and few people to occupy it, but I must ask; You appear top have a lot of equipment, i.e. acoustic sets, PA systems, amps, and at least 3 zendrums that I know about, plus associated equipment to connect it all, computers, cables, interface boxes, racks, etc. Where in Davy Jones Locker do you keep it all? Not judging, just morbid curiosity (and more than a little envy) on my part.

Pyrate,
I am so glad you asked me that (where I keep all my gear). Last fall/winter, I fulfilled a long-time dream of having a real music studio built! We added on a 400s/f drum studio, attached to our garage. It's not huge (16'x23', I think) but it sure beats a bedroom! I call it the "Practice Pad" (my wife even had a sign made for me!) It's super well-built and well-insulated, has a beautiful vaulted ceiling, and custom-made swag lights built out of... you guessed it: DRUMS! Maybe I'll send in some pics.
The closets (2) are huge, and I have drums stacked on shelves in them. I have one end of a closet shelved off for snare drum storage and the rack in that closet holds 2 complete drum sets plus a few spare drums here and there, and then I have a couple more drum kits stored in the other closet. 3 drumkits and my MalletKat are set up most of the time, and I have lots of rehearsals with bands here too. Lots of my stuff lives in the garage too- PA stuff, cases, hardware (I have been storing cymbal stands balanced across rafters in my garage; it's a GREAT way to store them... you can get to the one you want easily, they aren't getting banged around together, and they are out of the way).
The main spousal stipulation of our building the studio was this: NO drum stuff in the house any more! That time I had one of my jazz kits stacked in the bathroom (true story) put my wife over the edge. So the drums and all other music gear are OUT of the house... she loves it, and so do I (although I will admit, there's a 15" tom a couple feet away from me right now... and I am in the house
) I want to be clear: she has been AMAZINGLY supportive of me, my habits, and my obsession with gear... because she knows that gear is my second love (I really hope she reads that...
)
About my job: it's not so much my job that gets me some nice gear, it's the fact that I teach a ton of drum lessons, and am fortunate enough to have 2-3 paying gigs a week. It's not a ton of cash, but since my only hobby is drummin', the money goes back into the hobby. It also helps that my wife and I both have decent jobs to keep the household afloat... music money STAYS music money!
I really hope none of that comes off the wrong way... boastful or whatever. I feel VERY fortunate to have nice gear and a nice place to put it! Just answering questions from my buddies Py and TNT. And Pyrate, I regret to say that I sold my old LT to get the new one... so still only 2 Zendrums
.

Avast Thar Zendrumdude,
You do not sound boastful at all. And Aye'm very happy you were not offended by my curiosity. Aye only wish that I could even have a garage or the room to expand. Although, if Aye had a garage I would not have gotten involved with Zendrum. Aye also wish that I only had one hobby. Between me Pyrate activities and me biker activities, as well as music, Aye don't have enough Pyrate booty to support them all.
Aye think you should be proud of your setup, your studio, your musical accomplishments and most especially that very supportive first mate you're lucky enough to have. (I hope she reads this too).
Fair Winds and Following Seas,
Pyrate
P.S. I managed to get BFD2 properly loaded and a single kit (so far) built and saved. Now the hard part; teaching the Jolly Roger Zendrum to sing.
