Okay, here's some more video. This time, with all the focus on the ZAP.

All sounds are triggered from an E-mu PX-7. The purpose of this video is to illustrate the extreme playability of this great new instrument, not my finger drumming skills (or rather, the lack thereof at this point). I'm finding finger drumming to be a much different animal with the very sensitive Zendrum pads. I'm still used to pounding the rubber pads of my former controller, the Trigger Finger. So please ignore the clams and slop.

At least now I have an instrument I can commit to in regards to technique development!

ZAP at NAMM
« Reply #31 on: January 14, 2008, 05:34:51 PM »

Greetings all,

I would like to extend an invitation to all of you that are attending the NAMM show this week.  I will be in the FXpansion booth (#6910) demonstrating BFD2 with my new B.O.M.B. expansion pack, triggered from the Zendrum LT and my new ZAP.

The ZAP has opened up yet another really cool Zendrum approach for me.

Please stop by and say hi!

Thanks for the kind words! After spending a lot of time with a trigger finger, the ZAP is sort of like an old familiar friend..but one who's had plastic surgery, liposuction, laser hair removal, porcelain veneers, hair, makeup, and a personal trainer. Like upgrading from a VW to a BMW...  ;D

Zendrum ZAP viedo from NAMM
« Reply #38 on: January 25, 2008, 12:27:28 PM »

Hello fellow Zendrummers,

Here is a video from the NAMM show.  I am playing everything in real time using the ZAP to trigger my new BFD BOMB pack, which will be released in the near future!  The center pads have a marching snare.  Just below that are the tonal bass drums and whistle, with the quads above the snare pads.  The foot pedal is triggering a set of hand cymbals.

Enjoy!

Unfortunately, John, the sound on that video is terrible.

I can't hear the bass drum at all.  Shame.  There's just a bass rumble from other booths.  The snare/rim and quads come out pretty nice.  And I'm sure the nuances of the expansion are just lost.

That's really too bad.  It only hints at what's possible.

Hey John,

I like that video (even Geo is right with the sound). But did I miss something? Did you produce a marching band pack for BFD?!?

Ingo.

Nice demo John!
Whenever you get a minute, give us a direct feed of this new library from your studio.
I can tell it's going to sound great!
It sounds just like every NAMM show did to me.
I say CRANK IT UP in spite of the db Police.
(they can only throw you out once per show!)
Thanks man,
David

The sound came from the mic on his camera.  Unfortunately, he didn't ask for a direct feed.

The sounds on the new pack are HUGE.  As soon as FXpansion launches the page, there will be demos posted.

Ingo,
It looks like I will be in Germany for MESSE.  I'll pm you when I get dates together.

Great vid thanks John.... i'd love to hear more audio/ video demos of BOMB - even just a quick 'soundcheck' style audition of the kit pieces, with sound recorded directly.

Also, I'd love to know what the kick pedal is you're using in that vid.

Thanks

ps sorry to nag re: demo!  ;)
