ZenChat / Went whole hog on upgrades
« on: January 01, 2010, 11:20:24 pm »
Starting the new year off right with wireless, maxed-out triggers, a volume knob and the Z4 upgrade.

I know it's been said here before, but if you're on the fence at all about getting the new Z4 board, DO IT!  The sensitivity and feel are completely off the charts.   :o

Some pictures and blah, blah, blah here:

And thanks again David, you are a gentleman and a scholar!

ZenChat / Which rom upgrade for Planet Earth?
« on: October 07, 2009, 05:50:53 pm »
Heya peeps -- I've seen recommendations on the forum about using "the drum rom" to expand E-MU's Planet Earth module.  It's always referred to just as "the drum rom" and never by name.  Which rom exactly is everyone referring to?  None of the ones I've seen listed by name jump out as me as being THE rom to get:  http://www.vintagesynth.com/emu/planetearth.php
A lot of these are floating around on ebay right now and I've got the urge to upgrade my module to squeeze a little more life out of it.

tnx

Tech Help / Muse Receptor and iLok
« on: August 22, 2009, 07:45:59 am »
Fellas, is a used Muse essentially useless without the iLok, or does that just preclude you from altering anything that's already installed?  Do new iLoks ship with VSTs, or is there just one paired to the Muse itself?

i.e., if I purchased a used Muse that was missing an iLok, if I then purchased say BFD, would that come with an iLok and I'd be good to go, or would I just be essentially screwed?

tnx

Tech Help / Individual Volume Settings
« on: July 02, 2009, 10:56:52 am »
Am I correct in surmising that the UL setting is global and cannot be set for individual triggers?  I have some kits in which the ride is just a touch too loud/forceful and would like to trim the velocity on just those triggers.  I *can* affect the volume of the ride at the module but would rather not do that for a couple reasons, not the least of which is that that only reduces the volume of a forceful hit and doesn't alter the characteristic of the cymbal such that a lighter hit would (this is with a TD-20, i.e COSM).

Does the Z4 allow for changing the UL or equivalent setting per individual trigger?  If so I may have just found my first compelling reason to upgrade.   :-\

thanks

Tech Help / Program number offsets -- TD-20
« on: July 02, 2009, 10:45:42 am »
Hi all, quick question about program numbers.   The Zendrum uses a zero based index while the TD-20 on the other hand starts with 1.  In other words, program 1 on the TD-20 is program 0 on the Zen, 5 is 4, etc..

Not to quibble but this can be quite annoying.  Anyway to get the two indexes in line with one another?

thanks!
