Tech Help / Crosstalk problem solved
« on: April 29, 2013, 06:37:47 AM »
For some time, I'd been having a crosstalk issue with the C4 pad on my ZX.  Raising the noise floor helped, but I didn't like the decrease in sensitivity.  Plugged it into ZenEdit and tried to tweak the trigger with Rob Anderson's help, but no difference.  I recently noticed that the pad was a little wobbly and wouldn't tighten up just by pressing it down, so I yanked on it from the inside and snugged it up.  Also applied a little bit of glue to hold it in.  When I examined the piezo under the cap, the wire attached to the center popped off.  I re-soldered it, reassembled and tried it out.  All OK now.  My problem was either a cold solder joint or a loose pad (or both!).  Both were easy fixes.
Reminder: If you have the internal battery modification and your Zendrum goes dead, even when hard-wired through the battery box, check the wire connections to the battery holder!

ZenChat / Compact subwoofer for live performance?
« on: March 22, 2013, 07:58:32 AM »
I've gone from a Roland KC500 to a QSC K10 for live performance in small venues.  I know some players use the QSC K-sub with great results.  I'm interested in keeping my rig compact and wonder if anyone has complemented their system with either the 12" EV ZXA1-sub or the Mackie DLM12S?  I don't want to break any ribs, just add a little punch to the kick.

Tech Help / Power consumption
« on: July 18, 2012, 06:26:51 AM »
Can anyone tell me how low a battery can get before a rig goes down?  I use the iPower rechargeable lithium ion batteries that, fully charged, are 8.4V.  I put a fully charged one in my ZX (with internal wireless) and left it on for approximately 70 minutes, after which the battery tested at 8.1V.  I assume that the draw will be more while playing (haven't tested that scenerio yet)?  I haven't been let down yet and I have no problem with swapping a fully charged battery between sets.  Just wonder if anyone knows what the limit is?
