ZenChat / Re: TD-30 anyone?
« on: April 18, 2012, 05:12:54 AM »
Hey Mike, here's the scoop-
You would plug the Zendrum into the MIDI IN of the Roland just like you did when you used both the pedals and pads AND Zendrum together before. Then from the MIDI OUT of the TD into the Zendrumdrive's MIDI IN - last in line.
That gets all your pedals and pads through a MIDI triggering interface combined with the Zendrum. The Zendrumdrive just acts as an expander for the sounds of both pads and Zen. Simple and quick. One MIDI cable does it.

Zendrumdrive is running Battery as the host for our library. That's what boots up as a default ready to play our custom drum library.
HOWEVER, it's just a computer, so you can install any software you prefer and set THAT as the default instead if you want.
Battery comes with over 12,000 sounds, too. I'm sure there are plenty of orchestra timpani and bells and thundersheets and gongs in there.
Anything you want to run will work in Zendrumdrive- BFD, Toontrack, Addictive, NI, East West, any of it.

We just got some great percussion sounds donated by John Emrich which will be included standard going forward.
MY PERSONAL THANKS TO JOHN FOR STEPPING UP AFTER MAYOR TOM ROADY LEFT US MUCH TOO SOON!
Congas, Cajon, Djembe, Bongos, Agogos, Shakers, and more all done with extreme dynamics and playability, just like our drum sounds.
Together, it all sounds AWESOME. A completely different playing experience than I've ever had.

My point before was that any existing drumpad e-kit can be updated and revitalized by adding a Zendrumdrive.
As I promised, all new samples we get finished will be free uploads to all Zendrumdrive owners "for life".
Sorry Mike- I didn't mean to hijack your thread, Just sayin'...

Hey Drumhead! welcome back!
I don't know if this helps, but the Zendrumdrive can act as AN EXPANDER for any existing trigger pad set.
Just MIDI OUT to ZDD MIDI IN and you're in VST land with a backup parachute inline.
Why throw away/rebuy the old pads and pedals when you can sonically bring them up to date?
It doesn't have to be either Zendrum/or pads, it can be BOTH played simultaneously.

Hey Rand, no videos, but I may see some photos soon from that gig.
I'll put them up somewhere if I do.

Cool. I'd like to see your feetzas too so I can figure out your combinations.
Give the drummer some!

Tech Help / Re: Zendrumdrive

Just did a gig yesterday that tested the limits of what I have designed Zendrumdrive to be all about.
Played Atlanta Steeplechase for 1000 sponsors under a huge tent in the middle of a field with the entire band running off one small Honda generator. Full-out rock show for three hours using wireless Zendrum. If ever anything was going to kill a Zendrumdrive or make a wireless unit act screwy, this was going to be it. I've played this gig for many years and amps and mixers usually go crazy with the little jobsite generator's unstable brown power. Happy to report we all survived without incident or any problems except for gasoline fumes and dust in my lungs today.
Crowd went home after two encores buzzed and happy.
We were hired again on the spot for next year.
I win.

I'll tell you why-
I just realized today that I've been a working drummer for 40 freakin' years now.
I've always had to make the show go on, even if I didn't have another bass drum head.
I've got your back. Don't sweat it.

New users can have access to the forum, they just can't post EXCEPT through me.

Sorry to hear about your mishap.
There have been plenty of people who have knocked big chunks of wood out of their Zendrums and had them still function just fine.
Remember Jaay, I said LIFETIME warranty, and I never asked you to treat it like it was eggs.
I'll send my cell phone by pm and we can get another cap out to you today.

3800 AVATARS DELETED/DEFEATED TODAY BY GEOSPHERE.
They're not giving up without a fight.
Does this rag smell like chloroform to you?

There's a big difference between wanting something to happen and making it happen.
Darin took the initiative and devoted a big chunk of his time and talent to this huge and awesome effort.
All I did was use it when it was done. He's earned everybody's respect, especially mine.

Thanks everybody for posting!
While this arrangement isn't perfect, it's what we ALL DO that matters now.
There are still sharks in the water, but Geo has beaten them back like the true Zendrum champion he really is.
If we're willing to help and encourage and learn from each other we will beat these worthless bastards together.
If YOU want this forum to survive- take it back from them RIGHT NOW.

Hey Dub-
I agree! Now that we've moved to Windows 7 64 in the Zendrumdrive and upped the extra ram to 8 gig-
It's blazingly fast and accurate. Our TRS sounds are playing really smoothly, too!
Ya gotta love technology when it works!
