Gotta love that!

As everyone can attest to that plays gigs, there is no shortage of people that ask " what is that thing?" I tell them it is a Zendrum, and then inevitably, like Ricky Ricardo said, "You got some 'splainin' to do!"
So I tell everyone I am a Zendrummer, and I get to play electronic drums and a full complement of percussion instruments all wrapped into one instrument. Then I demonstrate. Then they walk away either wild eyed and fascinated - or with that blank "deer in the headlights" look. Either way, I love rattlin' their cages!

"Wentwood Jackson Jr" ! ! ! ! ! ! Where the hell did THAT moniker come from, lol!!!
"you can call me Ray, and you can call me "J", you can call me Raymond J Jackson Jr...." yadda yadda yadda hahaha!

Media / New video of my band Red Eye Flight
« on: April 15, 2012, 07:17:25 PM »
Hey all,

The band I have been with for a little over two years now just recently played at a performing arts center in Rhode Island. We had over 100 tickets sold (@ $15 ea.), and split the profits... 50% to the venue (non-profit, the $$ are rolled back in to the budget to support the venue), 50% split equally between the 5 band members and 3 other performers we had playing on the bill (Including a good friend on keyboards that sat in with us). No one's getting rich for sure, lol! But it was great fun, and a very enjoyable musical experience.

Here are a few videos of originals that our band performed that evening:

Here's a cover of "Creepin' In", performed originally by Nora Jones and Dolly Parton! :

And yet another cover, "I'll Fly Away", with 2 Singer/songwriters joining us who earlier had performed individually, and one of their friends on harmonica:

Here is a link to our website with additional audio tracks:

That's awesome Inspector.

Do you have any videos of the gig? I 'd love to see you in action.  ;D

I do have some videos of a recent show we did, I'll send the links in another post on this forum.

Putting together a soundtrack for all to play along with sounds great,  I hope we can get lots of the tribe involved. It would almost be like a meeting of the minds! Can't make it down to Atlanta, this is the next best thing!

Yes, I'd love to see your feetsies as well, lol! I don't use any pedals, I run wireless, but I am not opposed to trying that at some point. I did use a Roland FD-7 kick pedal for one gig, but it just felt awkward. Its funny, but I sometimes have a difficult time translating what I play from the zendrum to my vdrums.  I just purchased new kit a short time ago. I have played zendrum exclusively for 5 years, but now I am picking up the sticks again, and will play both at various gigs, depending on the venue.

Pretty cool John!

Just for grins, how would it be if we were able to do a video using Matt's licks, and each zendrummer that wants to, can record their own zendrumming? Might be fun to compare styles, what pads folks are using, different runs we tend to use, etc. We would need a post of Matt only of course. Then for instance, set up a video camera and record our playing with Matt's guitar. Then post!

"There are still sharks in the water, but Geo has beaten them back like the true Zendrum champion he really is.
If we're willing to help and encourage and learn from each other we will beat these worthless bastards together.
If YOU want this forum to survive- take it back from them RIGHT NOW."

I am so glad this forum is here to stay. We can't let these momos take over and ruin it for everyone. Thanks Geo! Thanks Dave!
I am doing a happy dance!!

"I second that emotion", Thumper!

I am willing to help out in anyway that I can if you need me. I was so glad to see this message tonight, and to see absolutely NO spam!!
Nice to see that these %$*^&% idiots didn't get there way, and the forum is continuing on.

Just saw this Darin, fabulous!
Now with The Inspector tying Zenedit in with each new purchase, it's a no brainer for everyone with a Z4 to purchase this incredible program! I can't imagine being without it anymore, it allows for soooo much greater control of the nuances of the Zendrum.

Great news for you, Inspector 109, and the entire Zendrum family!! Congrats!!!

Another thought.... perhaps we can move over to the vdrum forum, and have a separate section there. There are many sections dedicated to specific modules, electronic drums, etc. Can you (Geo) talk with the admin there and see if that is possible? Or, any one of us could probably start a section over there too, and perhaps it would stay as a "sticky" if requested or used often enough.

Admin is Alan at vexpressions.com .

Just a thought.......

Sorry Geo.

I guess they didn't read your byline.... "play nice".....

Some people are just not....

Sorry to see this go down due to those kinds of folks.

Is there some way to change the platform and thus make it more secure?

It got to the point where I was manually approving registrations only after interviewing users.  A few days later, they would use the login to send spam.
If a human SAYS they are interested in Zendrum and answers questions, and still simply uses their login as a pathway in, there's nothing more to do.
No matter how secure you make something, if someone has the time and desire, they can get around security.

Well damnit then, that just sucks big time. I was hoping maybe that exact method would stop the spamming, but you've been there, done that, to no avail. What is wrong with these people? What pleasure can they possibly get out of doing that?

Sorry Geo, I'm sure you have spent countless frustrating hours trying to keep this going for all the reasons mentioned by all the commenters here. I will add I feel the same way and just hate to see it go down. Maybe...just maybe... someone can give ytou the help you need to clear this riff raff outta here and keep them out. I have my fingers crossed. This forum has been, and continues to be, the primary resource for everything Zen. I understand if it has to go, but I will sure miss the 'family' atmosphere.
