Thanks for the research.

I know this will be SOMETHING in the future, but everything feels just short of right right now.

ZenChat / Anybody use an iPod as their soundsource?
« on: July 09, 2012, 12:43:24 PM »
So there's this thing called an iRig - a MIDI to iPod connector.  About $70.

Software (SampleTank iPod) for it is free for the demo, and $20 for the full, and something like $40 for every sample in their sound library.

From what I can tell, you cannot swap out individual sounds to customize kits, but if you buy all the drum packs, you have something like 80 preset kits from your iPod.

Anyone have any experience with this?

That's the exact system we have.

People lie.

What pleasure can they possibly get out of doing that?

There's a motive, but its not pleasure.

We'd really rather not get into the details.

Is there some way to change the platform and thus make it more secure?

It got to the point where I was manually approving registrations only after interviewing users.  A few days later, they would use the login to send spam.

If a human SAYS they are interested in Zendrum and answers questions, and still simply uses their login as a pathway in, there's nothing more to do.

No matter how secure you make something, if someone has the time and desire, they can get around security.

Hey all.

It is with a heavy and exhausted heart that Dave and I have agreed to shut down these forums.

All internet communication will be moved over to the Zendrum Corporation page over at Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Zendrum-Corporation/125010544947

The constant hacking and spam attacks have become too much and we're tired of it.  It's gotten to the point that there are individual humans now picking past security rather than just sending robot attacks and there's no way to set up enough scripts to stop someone who simply lies about their intent to join the forum.  Every few months, we drop new security in place and every few months they find away around it.  More than once the scripts have blocked actual users from joining and that also creates a problem.

Facebook is where its at these days, so we're going to be shutting the doors here and heading there.

New users cannot register at all here from now on.  In a week or so, this page will just send you to Facebook.

If there are specific threads you want archived, or any other comments you have about this change, please feel free to note them below.

Got to love hot drunk chicks!!!!!!!  Thumper

That's probably the reason most musicians learn an instrument in the first place.

Wow.  That was a LOT shorter than he was reporting his Drs giving him.

He lived large and he lived well.

This is actually someone personally logging on and cutting and pasting stuff.

No robot stopping program will stop it.

Not quite sure why we're worth the effort.

Sorry, guys, I've been away on work things.  Back on changing security now.

ZenChat / Re: question.....
« on: September 07, 2011, 06:37:37 AM »

can anyone offer an explanation?

This site is the driving sales tool for new Zendrums.  Selling new Zendrums is the primary source of income for Zendrum.  It becomes problematic to compete with the aftermarket.

It was decided some time ago that it is not to become a trading ground for used instruments.  If that happens, Zendrum the company spends money and resources maintaining a site which generates no profit.  If you go to Zendrum.com, you already know of the Zendrum.  There is no increase in worldwide visibility.

If sold via eBay or other channels, then the additional eyes who may not even be aware of Zendrum may become aware of the instrument and the Zednrum company does not have to get involved in sales disputes or clashes between buyers and sellers.

Zendrum makes and sells new instruments.  Too many problems arise with third parties believing we endorse and police all aftermarket sales.

In short, when people sell Zendrums to each other on this forum, we get pulled in if there are any disputes, we don't get to sell any new instruments and no one new sees the instrument.

or just external triggers that you may add?

You must have one of those fancy custom mods; all of my triggers are on the outside.

The DM10 is almost the same "footprint" as a lapotp.

The DM10 is actually a lot smaller.

I don't have a Zendrum, but... / Re: Australian Zendrums?

The biggest problem with Australian Zendrums is that Dave has to build them upside down.
