ZenChat / The Mayor
« on: October 31, 2011, 08:14:49 AM »
It is with a heavy heart that I relay some bad news. One of our treasured Zendrummers, Tom Roady (The Mayor) has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and his prognosis is not good. I had the pleasure of meeting him and learned a lot from him. I ask for your thoughts and prayers for our dear friend during these times, for him and his family. God bless you Tom.

ZenChat / Zendrum gathering in Atlanta

To the Zendrum Community,

There was some discussion about a gathering of Zendrummers in Atlanta and the dates were to be in late August.  I was interested to see how many of you can and will be here. I am interested in seeing as many of you as I can. I believe that it will be a very productive and educational event. I am willing to assist in any way I can in order for this event to happen. We need some coordination with the logistics. Any feedback would be great. It is early July and I want to make definite plans for this and it would be good to know how many people are coming.

User Reviews / Akai MPJ modules

Hey Zendrum community,

Does anyone have any experience using any of the Akai MPC modules with their Zendrum? If so, could you give us the pros and cons?

ZenChat / New Technology
« on: May 04, 2010, 09:43:29 AM »
Hey Zendrummers of the world. It was brought to my attention that Apple has come out with a new Macbook that has the I-5 processing. You also have the option to get a solid state hard drive. (No moving parts there, Inspector 109) It still has 4 gig of RAM, but the I-5, it should help with speed and potential latency issues. I was wondering if anyone has this and used it. Post some reviews and tell us what software you are using with it. My initial impressions are that this may be the ultimate machine to conquer all of the software issues people are dealing with, provided that the software compatability issues are not there. The pricing is around the same price as the older model that they just upgraded from. Looking forward to hearing some feedback.

Hey All,

Just wanted to let you know that if you are on Facebook, Gina and David have started their own pages and have uploaded some really amazing pictures for all of you to see. Check it out and feel free to make your comments. There are treasured pictures in there and helps to see the incredible history of the Zendrum family as it evolved. Thanks for posting those Gina. I know it took hours for you to get them up there.  Please note-- most of the pix are not taken during the digital age. :)  I am so proud to be a part of this wonderful community.

User Reviews / Visit to Zendrum HQ
« on: July 17, 2009, 04:44:41 PM »
Good day ladies and gentleman. I had the wonderful opportunity to visit "The Factory" and experienced the hospitality of David and Gena. What a great place to be and check out. Along with great conversation, there was some historic Zendrums gracing the inner sanctum with marvelous stories to go along with them. YAWN, sorry. I was there until the weee hours of the morning, but was loving every minute of it. So I had both Zendrum injected with the Z4 steroid. I will be messing around for a while before I comment. I will say that there may be some variation in performance based on which module is used.  The BFD2 and Mac Book Pro combo really rocks the world.

Thanks David and Gena. Continued good luck and success.

P.S. Hey Jer, I saw your flame maple/ purple heart ZX in the shop. We opened it and saw all the blue tape patches with notes on them.  It was still hot from your last performance. :D

Also, if anybody is interested in a midnight purple sunburst flame maple Zendrum with the Z4 upgrade, I will sell it for a reasonable price in order for me to order another LT in another color.
It is in perfect condition.

Hey Zendrummers of the world--  Today is my lucky day !! After a long day at the office, I will be visiting Zendrum HQ for my "steroid injection".  Yes, that's right, the Z4 upgrade will be installed into my beautiful ZX. I also have the great pleasure of spending some quality time with the Zenmaster, AKA Inspector 109.  Learning is vital to progress and I am greatful for this opportunity.  I will be happy to share my comments about the upgrade if you are interested. Thanks David, in advance. I am looking forward to it.

Music / Amazing experience

To the Zendrum Family,

I am proud to share the wonderful opportunity that came my way this past weekend. My friends, The California Guitar Trio, were in town and stayed with us the week before this upcoming tour and was invited to play with them at a concert event with my Zendrum. It truly was an amazing experience for me. This band toured with King Crimson and plays concerts with Tony Levin (bass player for Peter Gabriel's band) and Pat Mastelotto ( drummer) from King Crimson. This particular concert was video taped with 5 HD video cameras and a crew from CNN. I will also have the opportunity to work with the editing of this project. The video provided here was captured by my wife. If you want to know more about this band, check out www.cgtrio.com  Here is the link to my performance with them:

It is good for Zendrummers to infiltrate the guitar folks and add some serious percussion to their world. :)

I just saw that Roland has a new expansion pack for the TD 20 module with 300 new sounds. If anybody has it, or is going to get it, please give the tribe a review of it. It costs $495.00 at Guitar Center.

Music / YES tour cancelled
« on: June 05, 2008, 04:41:42 PM »
To the wonderful Zendrummers of the world. It is very unfortunate to relay that the 40th anniversary tour of the super group YES has been cancelled. They were scheduled to kick off the tour in Quebec City in mid July. Jon Anderson had an acute asthma attack, was hospitalized, and was told by his physician to rest for at least a month. I am concerned that with the health of Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman, we may not have the opportunity to see them again. This is very sad. They are one of favorite groups and I had made arrangements to see them in Quebec and Atlanta. I can only hope and pray that they will get healthy and reschedule.   Mark G.
