ZenChat / BFD3 - Number of available Drum slots
« on: September 30, 2013, 02:15:27 PM »
Hi John,
saw some of the previews of BFD3, it looks fantastic.
Was just wondering if you would know the maximum number of slots/channels for Drums that can be opened for a drumset. Thinking on ideas for say an expanded Zendrum 27-28 pads?

Cheers

is winging it's way to me  :)
Previously owned by our dear friend Tom Roady ("The Mayor") it has returned to Zendrum Central to be Z4'd. Many happy memories and looking forward to playing it.

ZenChat / GigKat

New sound module from Mario at Alternate Mode, may be worth a look, possibly more for Melodic players?
I assume you'd need something like a Behringer BCF2000 for the CC MIDI adjustments for Volume etc?

ZenChat / DM Pro locked up again
« on: October 21, 2011, 02:20:03 PM »
3rd time in two years, glad I kept my trusty D4.

Dark band across top of screen and repeating thumps from headphone output. Can't reset module, been back to Alesis UK service centre twice so far..............was looking at DM10 as a handy gigging module,  not so sure now.  Battery 3 and Mac Mini perhaps, unfortunately can't stretch to a Zendrive just yet.

Looks great.

NO WALL WART!!!!!!!!!

How about

3U Rack Road Case
1TB Hard-drive
USB MIDI/Audio Interface
DFH Superior or BFD

What a great value setup that would be compared to what you pay for a Roland TD20.

ZenChat / 'The Mayor" playing for Aretha Franklin
« on: April 25, 2010, 02:46:36 PM »
Just to wish our resident guru Tom 'The Mayor" Roady good luck for this evening. He is playing Percussion for Aretha Franklin, in the Ryman, Nashville tonight.
Apparently it's the first time she has played a gig in Nashville in 30 years? Hope to see some pics soon.

Have fun Tom

ZenChat / Flecktones - Dublin 04/11/09
« on: November 05, 2009, 04:18:35 AM »
Was lucky enough to get to see "Bela Fleck and the Flecktones" at Vicar St. ,Dublin last night, 2nd night of their European Tour. This was the 5th time I've seen the Flecktones but this one was a little different for a couple of reasons

Jeff Coffin (Sax) is on tour with Dave Matthews Band for November so Howard Levy (Piano/Harmonica) was brought in for these shows.....he played on their first 3 albums and then left in 1992. The set was entirely from those 3 albums ("Flecktones","Flight of the Comic Hippo" and "UFO TOFU") a lot of tunes they haven't played since then.

Everyone was sounding great, just a few nerves possibly but understandable after so many years since this lineup. What we didn't realise until a little into the show was Victor Wooten was very unwell, he still played a blinder though especially in the 2nd half of the gig.  A lot of the audience probably didn't notice thankfully and Victor will be ok I'm sure.

Roy (Futureman) was using his Drumitar, 2 x DMPros(?), Macbook with EZDrummer and his stand up Acoustic kit. It was very difficult to work out when he was playing Drumitar (Left hand) or Acoustic kit (Right hand)..... we were sitting front row centre stage. He turns Edrums into an "Organic" instrument, no idea how he does it? Richard Battaglia on Sound is a big help of course, everything was clear as a bell. Roy added some new vocals into "Sunset Road". Hopefully  he'll do some more singing on any upcoming material.

I'd never seen Howard Levy before, astonishing Piano and Harmonica playing (usually both at the same time). Jeff is back with the Flecktones in December but the guys are enjoying a different take on their music.. If you have the chance to see them...... GO!!!!!!

ZenChat / USB 2.0 External Drive for BFD or DFHS?
« on: October 21, 2009, 06:49:36 AM »
Anyone using USB 2.0 External Drive with BFD or DFH Superior?

Shopping for a new Macbook. Latest release ones just have USB 2.0 (No firewire unless you spend the extra for a Macbook Pro now) Was thinking of an Iomega Minimax 1TB 7200rpm or similar External Drive

Maybe I should keep an eye out for a previous Macbook (with Firewire) or spend the extra for the MacbookPro?

Just found this on the Alternate Mode site. It's probably more of a General MIDI Module but any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

ZenChat / Flecktones - 26th Jan
« on: January 29, 2007, 07:36:56 AM »
Saw the Flecktones in Dublin (Vicar St.) on Friday night. As ever they played like demons. Roy had his Drumitar and Acoustic setup but about 75% of his set was on Drumitar alone which was great to see, the guy has such a great economy of motion in his playing I'm sure a lot of peope were wondering it there was a backing track going as well….not a chance.

Tried to get a look at his setup but as it was a fair distance from the stage it looked like

Alesis DMPro (x 2)
Roland TD-10 (may have been a TD-20)
Apple iBook with Toontrack Ezdrummer.

His Cymbal sounds were excellent, probably best e-cymbal sounds I've ever heard live……that may be a reason why he is playing his Drumitar much more? You wouldn’t have been able to tell the difference in sound between his Acoustic cymbals and Cymbal samples.

Managed to show Roy my Figured Maple/Zebrawood Zendrum "There's a Zendrum a long way from home"... and he sends his regards to David,Kim,Gina,Tom Roady and everyone here. Jeff says "hi" too.

If you get a chance check them out, it's well worth it for inspiration and to see what is possible with our Instrument.

Cheers

ZenChat / HK Lucas
« on: January 17, 2007, 06:10:40 AM »
Just having a look around for some new amplification for my Zendrum/DMPro setup. I'll probably go with an RCF 315-A active monitor but i'm curious about the HK Lucas system like the one here.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these? I'm not looking earth shattering volume onstage but are these worth a look?

**Edit its the cheaper HK "Powerworks" system**
