Yep. It was a "duh" moment. Once I started saving on the Zendrum after transferring the sysex file all is good.

Thanks. I am using Zenedit, so far without luck, but I just had a "duh" moment and when I get home from work I will see. I'm using sysexe to move the data to the Zendrum and everything seems file. When I move the Zendrum from the computer room to the music area the edits are not there. Reading through the Z4 manual I see there is a command to Save. I have not been saving within the Zendrum after the transfer and I'm hoping that is why the data is not there after powering off and back on.

Tech Help / Two TD20/TD30 plus BFD2 related questions.
« on: August 22, 2013, 12:06:05 pm »
Before I bought my Zendrum I saw a post, somewhere, on the need to adjust the master sensitivity setting on the TD20 so the Zendrum and other non-VDrum pads will not max out the velocity so easily. Now I cannot find the post anywhere. Does anyone remember this or have suggestions on how to set the TD20 for a smooth response? I really prefer to do the adjusting within the TD20 so that I can move between the TD20 and BFD2 without changing anything in the Zendrum.

Is anyone using a HH controller (FD-7 or FD-8) with the Zendrum + TD20? Id like to set it up to work with both the TD20 and BFG2 which means connecting the controller to the Zendrum. What cc channel are you using? Do you use the same setting for the TD20 and BFG2?

ZenChat / Re: Q: When is a Zendrum like a bassoon?

Thanks for this. Just ordered mine.

Yes. I chose that color because the picture reminded me of deep, blue rippling water. I first thought it had a small scuff on the edge. Turned out to be a bit of sticky stuff that came right off.

My beautiful flame maple sapphire blue EXP arrived today. A nice match to my zebrawood ZX. Taking a break to watch the ZenEdit Introduction video. Now I am lusting for the LT. ... I need help.  ::)

Darn it. Got home from work and found a FedEx sticker on my door. Missed delivery from Georgia. I know what that is. Luckily they deliver on Saturday. I'll be setting by the front door.

I don't have a Zendrum, but... / Re: Today's the day !

Congrats Slyder. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I plan to enjoy mine.

PS: fxpansion has a 50 percent off sale during July on BFD2 and expansions. It is either good timing or bad timing, depending on how you look at it. I grabbed the percussion expansion and a couple Yamaha kits while they are cheap.

ZenEdit / Re: Standard layouts?
« on: July 12, 2013, 06:53:20 am »
Thanks. I'll download today and look everything over this weekend. I'm really thinking about using the TD most of the time and keeping a bass drum pedal and HH controller attached to the TD. That gives me some foot control without running those cables to the Zendrum that I am holding.

NICE!   ;D

I missed that.

ZenEdit / Standard layouts?
« on: July 11, 2013, 03:51:43 pm »
Just wondering if ZenEdit comes with standard layouts for GenMIDI, Roland TD, etc... that map those devices to "suggested" pads on the ZX and EXP. When my Zendrum comes in one of the first things I will do is try some different layouts to find the one most comfortable to me. I'm hoping that ZenEdit will introduct me to some of those possible layouts.

Oooohhhh boy. I've done it now. Sold a bit of music equipment that I did not need, made the mistake of looking on Ebay, and bought a second Zendrum before I even received my first. Not exactly sure if the person is a dealer but he had a couple of new2012  ZX Z4 series listed and I bought one today. That will give me a chance to see which layout I like better, the ZX or the EXP. Now I have double the anticipation.  8)

ZenEdit is a different purchase and a different company. I plan to get it once my Zendrum has shipped. By then I have to decide which computer I'm going to use for editing.

I looked for the EXP manual but do not see it listed. For now I have downloaded the ZX manual.

After seeing Mo'Rockin countless times over the years while visiting Epcot I finally ordered my own Zendrum. I decided to go all out. Flame maple EXP in that beautiful sapphire blue. I know the web site says 4+ weeks for that finish but I still cannot help but check the status every day. It's going to be a long month. Anyway, I have a few questions while I wait. I plan to use a Roland TD20x as my main sound source. I also may connect it to my DAW and try using Kontakt.

Will it be easier to map the Zendrum to match the TD20x, or program patches on the TD20x to match the Zendrum? (I do plan to get the ZenEdit program once I pay off this purchase.)

When using more than one pad to trigger the same drum, do most users assign both pads to the same midi note, or use two different midi notes and slightly different strikes to mimic left and right hand?

I have a MacBookAir with Ableton Live. Would what I gain in variety and sound quality make it worth using a computer instead of something simple like the TD20X?

Thanks for any answers.
